Saccharomyces cerevisiae versus Candida in the Liofilchem(®) A.F. Genital System.

چکیده
A.F. Genital System (GS ref. 74156; Liofilchem®, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Teramo, Italy) is a 24-well plastic tray (Figure 1) that provides a quick, presumptive identification of urogenital pathogens (from vaginal/urethral swabs and seminal fluid). Each well is inoculated with a suspension of the clinical specimen (in 3 mL of sterile physiological solution), then the panel is incubated at 36±1°C for 18-24 hours. The tray contains desiccated biochemical and antibiotic substrates and tests are interpreted based on color change of wells. According to the manufacturer’s instructions, the system only detects Candida species, among yeasts, based on color change of well 24 (green, no growth of Candida; turbid yellow, Candida growth) along with the observation of blastospores, hyphae and chlamydospores in well 6 (that contains a liquid growth medium), after incubation.

Effects of Yeast and Bacterial Commensals and Pathogens of the Female Genital Tract on the Transepithelial Electrical Resistance of HeLa Cells
Commensals of the human body can shift to a pathogenic phase when the host immune system is impaired. This study aims to investigate the effect of seven yeast and two bacterial commensals and opportunistic pathogens isolated from blood and the female genital tract on the transepithelial electrical resistance (TER) of human cervical epithelial cell cultures (HeLa). The pathogens Candida tropical...

Background and Purpose: Microorganism-based synthesis of nanostructures has recently been noted as a green method for the sustainable development of nanotechnology. Nowadays, there have been numerous studies on the emerging resistant pathogenic bacteria and fungal isolates, the probable inability of bacteria and fungi to develop resistance against silver nanoparticles’ (SNPs) antibacte...
متن کاملThe Effect of Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) Culture Versus Fla-ovomycin Supplementation on Laying Hen Diets and Their Co-mparative Influence on The Late Stage Production Performnce
The effect of yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) supplementation on laying hen diets was tested against flavomycin supplementation during 12 weeks, using 112 Brown Bovans laying hens, 52 week-old, divided into 7 equal groups fed on a basal diet containing 18.8% crude protein and 2810 kcal/kg ME (metabolizable energy) feed. Three groups were supplemented with 3 different levels of commerci...
